The India Service Medal - 1939-1945 was a campaign medal of the Commonwealth. It was awarded to the Indian Forces for three years of non-operational service in India, and replaced the Defence Medal. The medal was instituted on 6 June 1946 and awarded for service between 3 September 1939 and 2 September 1945. == Description == * It's a circular, cupro-nickel made medal, 36mm diameter. * The obverse has the legend "GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX ET INDIAE IMP."
